History

Established in 1938, the Harrisonville Fire Company was founded as a volunteer fire service organization dedicated to preserving life and property to the residents and visitors of South Harrison Township in Gloucester County, New Jersey.  We are located approximately 40 miles from Atlantic City and 30 minutes from Philadelphia, PA.  We serve an area of over 15 square miles and protect over 2500 residents in this mostly rural community.

We are an all volunteer fire company with approximately 15-25 active members that respond to our community’s needs.  We respond to an average of 200 calls per year, with one-third being a “mutual aid” request from our neighboring communities.  Our average response time, from when we are toned out to having a truck on the road, is about 8 minutes, longer during the work day due to a shortage of daytime volunteers.

The Company strives to provide professional quality response to life and property threatened by fire, accident, or severe weather.  Through community education, we strive to prevent emergencies of all types and through community partnerships, training, and fiscal responsibility.  It is the goal of the Harrisonville Fire Company to provide the highest level of service to the communities we serve, now and in the future.

Like so many other volunteer organizations around the world, we cannot pass up the opportunity to remind you to volunteer your time to help save lives and to support your neighbors. To volunteer, call the fire house at (856) 769-1611 or come out to one of our meetings held at the fire station on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M.
